When the Sun’s out, sometimes all you want to do is find a nice patch of grass to lay on and relax. Heaton Park is perhaps one of the best places in Manchester to do this.
Located just North of Manchester City centre, Heaton Park is a 600 acre public park that has more than just fields of grass to kick a football around.
Within the grounds of the park, you’ll find grade listed buildings, a stables complete with onsite cafe, animal centre, bowling green, football pitches, horticultural centre, childrens play areas, a lake where you can hire a boat for a leisurely row around, a golf course and even a working tram.
If you’re from Manchester, Heaton park needs little introduction. It also serves a venue for many well known annual events music events such as Parklife, as well as being one of the biggest venues for bonfire night complete with a fairground.
The grounds are vast, there’s plenty for families with children to see and do. Bring your dog, go for a run, or just chill with your friends.
Heaton Park has several official car parks which can be found on each side of the park. It is a paid carpark and it is manned at the gates, so it’s cash only unfortunatly.
Our only advice is that be aware of how popular this place is, especially on sunny days. As large as the car parks are, they do get full. All of them.
Heaton park is open from 8am to dusk everyday.
